[SoE] Meet Report from Det.. - 14:22, 18th August 2008 by [SoE]_Homer_Jay

[SoE] Meet 2008 Report by [SoE]_Detonator

I got to Birmingham Airport at 12.30 to pick up Trak, Iffy, Wolfie and Winters. Set off for the cabin and arrived at 2.00pm to find Falcon and Homer already there. Apparently Falcon was so excited about the meet he picked Homer up in the middle of the night and arrived at the cabin at 11.30. So the 7 of us sat around awaiting the arrival of Kinky, Frank, Softalan and Sauron. They arrived shortly after Saucyjack and his son who popped into see us to say he can’t stay Saturday night because of his bad back, but Jason said he would come as he has zero will power. Also Chip rang from the station to say the sat nav in his stolen Clio could only get him so I went to fetch him.

Then it was off to Tesco’s for beer, food and a barbecue, Saucy drove his pretend 4x4 so fast he managed to loose me at a roundabout. 2 hours later we made it back to the cabin where Trak and I assembled the barbecue.

Falcon was in charge of the barbecue with ignored comments about the charcoal colour from Homer. Despite creating an interesting colour clash of black sausages with Pink insides, the burgers and chicken were fantastic.

After an evening of drink and chat, Saturday was the day that fucked us. We played football for nearly 2 hours, then softball, then football again then soft ball in the rain. Also Homer had bad guts but still did a fantastic breakfast for us

The Teams for football.

England

Frank (Captain)
Chip (kept planting the football for some reason)
Me
Homer
Falcon
SoftAlan

The Rest of the World

Kinky (Captain)
Iffy (Scotland)
Wolfie (Wales)
Sauron (Ireland)
Luka (Slovenia)

I have to say that before he pulled up injured Falcon was fantastic, nobody dared to tackle him in case his hip went and pulled out of tackles for the same reason and we were soon in the lead. As soon as Falcon went to the stands the gloves came off and we started to loose. Half time saw us loosing and finding muscles we didn’t know we had. After a short break the same teams lined up for Soft Ball where we discovered a few things. Team England can’t throw, catch or hit the ball. Other than that it went swimmingly. Oh and the ball hurts. Needless to say we lost the softball when it took ages to get the rest of the world out in the second innings. All this was too much for Kinky who took to bed holding his groin. It looked as if the Rest of the World would be a man down but Homer changed sides and then Xtreme turned up to make the numbers up on team GB. We kicked off and despite a valiant attempt by the rest of the world the fitness of Frank paid off and he scored the goals needed to achieve victory.

Homer put the baked potatoes in to cook and we played Softball again. We picked different sides. Xtreme pointed out he couldn’t really run but as he could hit the ball a long way it didn’t really matter and he walked round. Softalan learned that putting your hand out to try and stop the ball really hurts, Chip ran all over the field to get the ball as he could still move. In the end my team of Iffy, Softalan, Sauron and Chip surrendered and we went in for tea.

As predicted by Softalan, Saucy turned up for the night clutching two guitars just in time for Chilli. Kinky staggered out of bed still clutching his groin. And we ate Chilli, Rice, baked potatoes and salad with cakes for pudding.

After the washing up I deputised for Cav and said a few words and awarded the SoE Trophy to LordIffyBoatrace for setting up the custom map server and keeping all the other servers running. I felt that the custom map server has kept interest in Cod4 and the clan gaming going and takes up a lot of his time.

Special thanks to Homer J Simpson.

Jason did all the cooking again despite not feeling well, top food again from a top Bloke; Wolfie hadn’t tasted home cooking since last year.

Special thanks to Frank Spencer

Pete did the organising for the meet, sorted the money, the shopping and accommodation, it all went off without a hitch.

Mention in Dispatches for Winters, Chip and Xtreme

Luka had to take two flights to get here and it was great to see him again, Chip had to steel a car for his first meet and Xtreme also made his first meet, great to put faces to voices.

The night’s entertainment was provided by Saucy, Iffy and Paul who played guitar, Saucy is just fantastic, for A gay. Kinky and Jason wrote a song called Hotel SoE to the tune of Hotel California. And Frank read aloud The Haunted Jungle from a Commando war stories book I brought, about a platoon of jocks with a gay sergeant being hunted in the Jungle by some Ginga’s. Followed by the SoE blues and then anyone’s experiences with shit.

Sunday we tided up and said goodbye for ever to the log cabin which is due to be knocked down as the site is modernised.

Another great meet.

The Karate Kid.... - 17:58, 08th December 2007 by [SoE]_Homer_Jay

Great News Guys...

My Son Lewis (6yrs) started Karate Sept 06..

He's gone through his White , Yellow, Orange & now red belt.

Today he went for his 3 monthly grading and was expecting only to receive his half grade to Green belt..

but...

The instructor said he was so good he graded to his FULL [color=green:836291e0b7]GREEN[/color:836291e0b7] Belt...

Also during his sparing he made another red belt cry... :D

This has calmed him down at school and gave him great self confidence..

Congrats to him...

Cav's Christmas Message. - 08:24, 21st December 2007 by [SoE]_Cavok

Hi all

It has become tradition for me to say a few words at Christmas and post them somewhere or other where people may or may not read it. Having read it they may or may not pay attention.

The year has been one of mixed results and full of frustration with occasional success stories.

We have had some births within the clan, luckilly no deaths….but a few close calls.

It was a difficult time waiting for new games to come along with one new one proving a big dissapointment. We have however found a new game within CoD4.
This game is a super in my opinion, the only faults mentioned if you take a step back and look at things in perspective are trivial and will probably be sorted very soon.
I personally am enjoying this game immensly.

The long wait and hardware demands of new games however took a toll and have brought tough new challenges upon us. A lot of people while not having left the clan have taken on other commitments, many have more work than normal or are studying hard and not able to devote the time anymore that they would like. I have to admit this includes myself also as my work demands have spiralled out of control. We will be taking steps to up the interest and as our Motto goes ‘SoE is for Life and not just for Christmas’ we will work on this and find a way forward.

There have been some striking personal successes as well. many members have improved themselves dramatically in their peronal lives.

Sauron has kicked several nasty habits and is well on the way to getting his life sorted, he needs our support and it should be given with patience, tolerance and understanding.

Trance has dragged himself off some very nasty medication and taken a grip on life and is currently working on extending his education. This we know has been a hard slog for him.
He also will be supported I am sure.

Ralphy, has overcome a lot of personal hardships over the years and needed time to get himself sorted. He has taken what are for him huge steps, simple things many of us take for granted, getting a job, simply going out, getting a girlfriend to name but a few that for him is a fight for normality. Well done mate I wish you continued success.

Arctic, Don and T are heavy into Educational commitments I wish them all luck and success.
They will be back soon enough I am sure.

One or two members are coping with huge stresses within their lives coupled with huge changes and blows where they are required to continue fighting to overcome health issues business and family changes. People like Fritz, Kinky, Geary, life and associates are out of the frame but not forgotten as indeed are our ex clan mates one and all. What ever differences may have existed I wish you all the best and luck in the search for satisfaction.
I particularly hope Davie knocks some goals in for me!

There are many who work tirelessly behing the scenes. Softalans difficult and thankless handling of our finances deserves our appreciation, none of us makes his job easy.

The backroom boys of server management, Robb, Luka, Iffy and the rest do great jobs with an increasingly lax server provider who I hope will soon reap the consequence of his taking good customers for granted.

Homer general provider of all round entertainment and signature images, thanks mate.

Roostie and Marti our pillars of the medical proffesion have obviously been very busy this year. Doing admirable jobs that are difficult and require a level of dedication that few if any of us could match. Nice to see you both active guys.

Flick and Det have been trying to keep up our interest in times when we have flagged organising matches under difficult circumstances when interest was at a low point.

Trackie has been busy moving getting into a new life and setting up various businesses, thanks to him for his continuing work in the background with hosting and websites. Don’t forget he also does a lot in the backroom for E-Dom and helps make life easier for us with our forum.

I wouild also like to welcome our new members aboard for their first christmas with us.

Anyone else whom I haven’t mentioned like ronny, rob, frank, zaits, wolffie and otto should please not take offence we all appreciate everyone who is with us through good times and hard times.

I wish all of you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous New Year.

May your God if you have one be with you.

I am proud to be able to call you all my friends.

ABOUT THE CLAN

SoE are a Call Of Duty Clan that play together for fun and good laughs. That doesn't mean we don't take things seriously, but it does mean that it isn't the end of the world if things don't go quite according to plan. The clan is made up of players of all ages from 14 to 60 and from all over Europe. (England, Scotland, Wales, Germany,Belgium, Netherlands & Austria).
We also have 1 member in the USA.
We play primarily on popular servers, or on our own server and can be recognised by our [SoE] clan tags, fairness and humour

What does SOE stand for?

During World War 2, the Allied armies worked in secrecy with the French resistance to carry out covert operations to hassle and hinder the Axis forces.
This branch of the Allied army also worked with the British SAS and Commando's and was called the Strategic Operations Executive. So during the War SOE stood for that. However...the SOE Clan is a group of friends that enjoy getting together and having fun. We are to be found on mainly as said on our own server please feel free to visit.

Anyone can win but it's how you lose that defines you as a person.
